About IIC

The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) of Govt. S.A.M. Degree College, Budgam, was established in the year 2023 under the initiative of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, through the MoE's Innovation Cell (MIC) in collaboration with AICTE. The IIC programme aims to systematically promote innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship, and start-up culture among students and faculty in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs).

The Council serves as a platform to nurture innovative thinking and entrepreneurial skills by engaging students and faculty in activities such as ideation, problem-solving, design thinking, proof-of-concept development, intellectual property rights (IPR) awareness, innovation management, and start-up incubation. Through workshops, expert lectures, competitions, mentoring sessions, and innovation-driven activities, the Council encourages students to transform creative ideas into practical solutions and entrepreneurial ventures.

Achievements

⭐⭐ 2-Star Rating awarded by the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India, in recognition of the college's performance in promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-up activities on campus.

The Council has successfully organized various innovation and entrepreneurship-related programmes, including workshops, expert lectures, awareness campaigns, placement drives, and student engagement activities in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell. The achievement reflects the institution's commitment to fostering a vibrant innovation ecosystem and encouraging students to develop creative and entrepreneurial mindsets.

Functions of IIC

  • Promote a culture of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among students and faculty.
  • Organize innovation, start-up, and entrepreneurship-related activities as per MIC guidelines.
  • Identify, encourage, and recognize innovative ideas and projects.
  • Conduct workshops, seminars, expert talks, and mentoring sessions with entrepreneurs and industry experts.
  • Build linkages with innovation, incubation, and entrepreneurship development organizations.
  • Showcase innovative projects and achievements of students and faculty through the Institution's Innovation Portal.
  • Organize hackathons, idea competitions, innovation challenges, and other experiential learning activities.
  • Encourage students to develop solutions to societal and industry-related problems through innovation and research.
